Following a 3-2 loss on Saturday, the Sea Dogs are starting to lose sight of the Charlottetown Islanders in the overall standings. Charlottetown now has 46 points and sits 14th overall while Saint John is 17th with 40 points. An Islanders win over the Sea Dogs this afternoon would create some serious separation between the two with a month left in the season.
The top-16 teams qualify for the playoffs. Losing sight of the Islanders in the standings isn't the end of the world but it creates one less playoff spot for Saint John to try and grab.
Islander to watch: Kiefer Lyons' game-winning goal on Saturday night was his first goal as a member of the Islanders. The Quispamsis native spent two full seasons with the Saint John Vito's.
