Game Day 64: at Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN - Only five games remain on the Saint John Sea Dogs' regular season schedule and three of them will be against the Charlottetown Islanders.

The first of those meetings takes place tonight at Eastlink Centre. The Sea Dogs have points in five straight games (2-0-3-0) while the Islanders have dropped four straight (0-3-1-0).

Saint John remains two points back of the Val-d'Or Foreurs for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's final playoff spot. Every point will matter the rest of the way.

Game time tonight is 7 p.m.

2022-23 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 22-36-4-1 for 49 points (fifth Maritimes/ninth Eastern/17th QMJHL) while the Islanders are 24-30-6-1 for 55 points (fourth Maritimes/eighth Eastern/13th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss in Bathurst on Sunday. Brady Burns, Alex Drover and Peter Reynolds scored for Saint John. Ventsislav Shingarov made 29 stops in the loss. The Islanders are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss in Cape Breton on Saturday. Ross Campbell and Joel Marchon scored for Charlottetown. Jakob Robillard made 27 stops in the loss.

2022-23 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 3-3-0-0 against the Islanders this season while Charlottetown is 3-1-1-1 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Feb. 20 at TD Station where the Islanders defeated the Sea Dogs 5-3. Simon Hughes scored a pair of goals for Charlottetown while singles came from Jeremie Biakabutuka, Kiefer Lyons and Michael Horth. Saint John goals came from Noah Reinhart, Pavel Simek and Luka Benoit. Jakob Robillard made 39 saves in the win. Oliver Brideau made 25 stops in the loss.

Islander to watch: Simon Hughes has four goals and an assist in six games against his old club this season.
