Recap: Sea Dogs lose 4-3 (OT)

BATHURST
- The Saint John Sea Dogs suffered a second straight overtime loss on Sunday, falling 4-3 to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the KC Irving Regional Centre.

The Sea Dogs were up 3-2 late in the game but allowed the Titan back in it. Ty Higgins netted his second of the game on a power play at 17:16 to send the match into extra time tied 3-3.

After Bathurst couldn't score on another man advantage, Higgins completed the hat trick by netting the game-winner at 4:28 of overtime.

Along with Higgins, Donovan Arsenault scored for Bathurst. Joshua Fleming, who shutout the Halifax Mooseheads on Friday, made 30 stops in a strong performance that included facing 19 shots in the middle frame.

Brady Burns, Alex Drover and Peter Reynolds scored for Saint John. Ventsislav Shingarov made 29 stops in the loss.

The Sea Dogs remain two points back of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's final playoff spot with the Val-d'Or Foreurs losing in a shootout.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without defenseman Jeremie Richard (injury) along with forwards Nico Laforge (injury), Sam-Luca Thifault (injury), Harrison Ballard (injury), Nathan Casey (injury) and Jacob Beaulieu (healthy).

TIED UP: With a goal and an assist in this game, Brady Burns now has 251 career QMJHL points, tying Michael Kirkpatrick for the second most in Sea Dogs history. Burns has five games remaining to match Jonathan Huberdeau's 257 career points record.
EXTRA TIME: Overtime has not been kind to the Sea Dogs of late. This was the team's third overtime loss in their past five games. The team is 2-4-1-1 (OTW-OTL-SOW-SOL) in extra time games this season.

NOTES: Alex Drover returned to the lineup after missing Friday's game with an injury... affiliate player Reid Calder remained in the Saint John lineup... the Titan wore their black third jerseys... Ty Higgins set a career high for goals in a game (three) and points (four)... Drover had a goal and an assist... Brady Burns and Peter Reynolds each had five shots... attendance was 1,526... this was Saint John's final trip of the season to Bathurst... the Sea Dogs and Titan meet again on the final day of the QMJHL's regular season (March 25) at TD Station.
