Game Day 28: vs Sagueneens

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs look to keep rolling this afternoon.

The Sea Dogs have won three straight games and are coming off a 6-3 home win over the Cape Breton Eagles last night. Saint John trailed 2-0 early but improved as the game went along.

Saint John hosts a Sagueneens team that got roughed up, 8-2, in Moncton last night. The Sags carry a three-game losing streak into today's match.

Today's contest also includes the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss and intermission performances from a Michael Buble impersonator. Game time is 3 p.m.

2023-24 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 11-13-1-2 for 25 points (fourth Maritimes/seventh Eastern/12th QMJHL) while the Sagueneens are 13-12-2-2 for 30 points (third East/fifth Eastern/ninth QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-3 win over the Cape Breton Eagles last night. Matteo Mann, Reid Calder, Noah Reinhart, Kency Pierre-Noel, Eriks Mateiko and Mathis Gauthier all scored for Saint John. Patrick Leaver made 33 saves in the win. The Sagueneens are coming off an 8-2 loss in Moncton last night. Emmanuel Vermette and Jonathan Prud'homme scored for Chicoutimi. Raphael Precourt and Mathys Fernandez split the loss in net. 

2023-24 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 1-0-0-0 against the Sagueneens this season while Chicoutimi is 0-0-1-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Nov. 17 in Chicoutimi where the Sea Dogs edged the Sagueneens 3-2 in overtime. Vince Elie scored a pair of goals for Saint John while Mathis Gauthier added a single. Emile Guite and Alexis Morin had Sags goals. Justin Robinson made 29 saves in the win. Raphael Precourt made 24 saves in the loss.

Sagueneens to watch: Emile Guite, the second overall pick in June's QMJHL Entry Draft, has eight goals in 13 road games.
