Game Day 41: vs Tigres

- The Saint John Sea Dogs will face a tough test tonight at TD Station.

The Victoriaville Tigres make their lone visit of the season to Saint John this evening. The Tigres currently sit fifth overall in the QMJHL standings and are in the conversation of being a Gilles Courteau Trophy contender.

The Sea Dogs have lost four straight home games heading into play tonight and are coming off a rough 4-0 loss to the Rimouski Oceanic on Thursday.

Game time this evening is 7 p.m.

2023-24 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 14-20-3-3 for 34 points (sixth Maritimes/ninth Eastern/15th QMJHL) while the Tigres are 26-10-3-0 for 55 points (second Central/third Western/fifth QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Rimouski Oceanic on Thursday. Patrick Leaver made 40 saves in the loss. The Tigres are coming off a wild 8-7 overtime win in Bathurst last night, which saw them blow a 4-0 first period lead. Joseph Henneberry had four goals; Tommy Cormier two goals; and singles came from Noah Warren and Egor Goriunov. Gabriel D'Aigle made 17 saves in the win.

2023-24 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the Sea Dogs and Tigres.

2022-23 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 0-2-0-0 against the Tigres last season while Victoriaville went 2-0-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Oct. 16, 2022 in Victoriaville where the Tigres defeated the Sea Dogs 7-0. Thomas Belgarde scored twice for Victoriaville while singles came from Justin Larose, Tommy Cormier, Nikita Prishchepov, Loick Daigle and Egor Goriunov. Gabriel D'Aigle made 29 saves in the shutout win. Olivier Brideau made 23 saves in the loss.

Tigres to watch: Former Acadie-Bathurst Titan forward Joseph Henneberry has six goals and five assists in seven games against Saint John this season.
