Recap: Sea Dogs lose 4-2

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC - The Saint John Sea Dogs came up short against one of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League's top teams on Saturday.

Saint John native Sam Oliver scored twice to help lead the Drummondville Voltigeurs to a 4-2 victory over the Sea Dogs at the Marcel Dionne Centre. Saint John has now lost three straight games for the first time this season.

The Sea Dogs play the final game of their three-in-three road trip on Sunday against the last-place Gatineau Olympiques.

Oliver opened the scoring at 14:58 of the first period and then secured the win with an empty net goal in the final minute. The Sea Dogs were able to stay with the Volts for most of the game and were outshot 37-29.

Ethan Gauthier and Luke Woodworth also scored for Drummondville. Louis-Felix Charrois made 27 stops in the win.

Darien Reynolds and Eriks Mateiko scored for Saint John. Justin Robinson made 33 saves in the loss.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forwards Coen Miller (healthy) and William Yared (healthy) along with defensemen Julien Bonnet (healthy), Cruz Scanzano (healthy) and Giuliano Caputo (healthy).

NOTES: The Sea Dogs shook up their forward lines a bit and healthy scratched Coen Miller and William Yared... Reid Calder played his first game since Oct. 20... Justin Robinson made his first start since Oct. 17... Saint John is now .500 on the season with a 7-7-0-0 record... this was the first game that Zachary Morin did not record a point in since joining the Sea Dogs... Olivier Groulx had two assists... the Volts were only awarded one power play in the game while the Sea Dogs had three... faceoffs were 44-14 in favour of the Volts... Tyler Peddle had five shots against his former team... attendance was 2,318.
