Game Day 17: vs Huskies

- Coming off an upset win over the Moncton Wildcats on Thursday, the Saint John Sea Dogs will look to carry that momentum into another big showdown tonight.

The Sea Dogs host the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, who sit second in the Western Conference, tonight at 7 p.m. at TD Station. Saint John will honour the club's 2011 and 2012 championship teams during the game.

The Sea Dogs have won back-to-back games – both in overtime with both game winners being scored by Matteo Mann.

This is the third and final game of a Maritime road trip for the Huskies. They fell 6-5 in overtime on Wednesday in Cape Breton and lost 2-1 in a shootout last night in Halifax. The Huskies outshot the Mooseheads 49-18 in the loss.

2024-25 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 9-7-0-0 for 18 points (third Maritimes/sixth Eastern/ninth QMJHL) while the Huskies are 8-3-2-3 for 21 points (first West/second Western/sixth QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 3-2 overtime win over the Moncton Wildcats on Thursday. William Yared scored a pair of goals while Matteo Mann netted the overtime winner. Charles-Edward Gravel made 33 saves in the win. The Huskies are coming off a 2-1 shootout loss in Halifax last night. Bill Zonnon scored Rouyn-Noranda's only goal. Samuel Meloche made 17 saves in the loss.

2024-25 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the Sea Dogs and Huskies.

2023-24 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 0-2-0-0 against the Huskies last season while Rouyn-Noranda went 2-0-0-0 against Saint John.
 
Last meeting: Nov. 25, 2023 at TD Station where the Huskies shutout the Sea Dogs 4-0. Antonin Verreault, Benjamin Brunelle, Alex Carr and Bill Zonnon had goals. Kyle Hagen made 15 saves in the win. Patrick Leaver made 30 stops in the loss.

Husky to watch: Swiss native Lars Steiner, who was selected 46th overall by the Huskies in this year's CHL Import Draft, continues his hot start. He leads all QMJHL rookies in scoring with 25 points in 16 games.

Random stat: The top two offensive defensemen will go head-to-head tonight. Nate Tivey leads all QMJHL defensemen in scoring with 19 points while Ty Higgins is second with 18.
