Recap: Sea Dogs win 4-0

FINAL: Quebec 0, Saint John 4

SAINT JOHN - Rafaël Courchesne recorded a second straight shutout as the Saint John Sea Dogs blanked the Quebec Remparts 4-0 on Saturday at TD Station.

Courchese only faced 20 shots but had to be sharp at times, making saves on several odd-man rushes. His best stop came in the third period when he stretched out to get a toe on the puck to keep his shutout going.

The Sea Dogs have not allowed a goal in two games. Saint John was coming off a 6-0 win in Victoriaville on Sunday and they were able to carry that momentum into Saturday night's contest.

Vincent Croteau, Jacob Beaulieu, Alexis Joseph and Everett Baldwin all scored for Saint John. Croteau and Joseph also registered assists.

The Sea Dogs led on the shot clock all game long but were perhaps a bit lucky on a couple occasions with the first two goals of the game being a bit strange: Croteau's goal barely crossed the line while Beaulieu's came on an odd bounce off Remparts goaltender Patrick Deniger.

Deniger made 26 stops in the loss.

Lucky or not, the Sea Dogs were certainly worthy of the win. There are definitely some things to clean up, but it's hard to complain about back-to-back shutouts.

The Remparts had a three-game winning streak end with the loss. The Sea Dogs will now try and win a third straight tomorrow against the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
