The Sea Dogs will host the Moncton Wildcats at 4 p.m. this Saturday. Saint John is 5-2-0-0 all-time in Halloween games, which includes winning the past three they've played.
2010-11: 7-0 win at Rouyn-Noranda2012-13: 2-1 loss vs Blainville-Boisbriand2015-16: 5-3 win vs Val-d'Or2019-20: 6-1 loss vs Rimouski2020-21: 5-3 win vs Cape Breton2021-22: 4-3 win vs Halifax2024-25: 3-2 win vs Moncton (OT)
In the most recent game two years ago, Matteo Mann scored at 1:51 of overtime to give Saint John a 3-2 victory.
Six of the seven games the Sea Dogs have played on Halloween have been at TD Station. Not many people witnessed those games, though. Here's a look at the attendance figures for Saint John's previous six home games played on Halloween.
2012-13 vs Blainville-Boisbriand: 2,6942015-16 vs Val-d'Or: 2,2662019-20 vs Rimouski: 2,3092020-21 vs Cape Breton: 1,4182021-22 vs Halifax: 2,0272024-25 vs Moncton: 1,654
Saint John has never had a crowd larger than 2,694 for a Halloween game. The smallest crowd without COVID capacity restrictions was the 2024-25 number of 1,654, which was Saint John's least attended home game of the year.
Saint John's attendance numbers haven't been good this season and playing so many games in early October – when crowds are typically small across the league – will not help their final total this season.
The Sea Dogs are averaging 2,521 fans per game this season, placing them 10th in the QMJHL. Through eight home games a year ago, Saint John was averaging 2,828 fans per game.
The Sea Dogs ended last season with an average of 3,273 fans per game.
