Notebook: Support #TeamDK

The Sea Dogs are inviting fans to join #TeamDK in support of equipment manager David Kelly.

Kelly underwent surgery yesterday in Saint John after being diagnosed with cancer in his neck. It’s his second procedure in less than a year.

From the Sea Dogs’ press release:

"DK has been a part of our family since Day 1," said Sea Dogs president Wayne Long. "Friends, former players and fans from all over the world are asking what they can do to help. We are rallying behind him. We want to invite everyone to join #TeamDK and offer well-wishes and support to DK and his family."
We are encouraging everyone to get involved by logging on to the website: http://teamdk.eflea.ca/
The team has created a PayPal account on the site through which financial contributions will be accepted.
The Sea Dogs are also organizing an online auction. More details will be released soon.
Supporters can participate at upcoming home games.
Fans attending the team's remaining three home games can sign a greeting card, which will be available at Sea Dogs Central, located behind Section S, on the Harbour Station concourse. Greetings can also be emailed to: info@saintjohnseadogs.com.
The Sea Dogs Foundation will be holding a raffle where one lucky fan will win accommodations and tickets for two to a pair of Sea Dogs' games next season.
A silent auction is also planned.
Donations can be made by contacting Administrative Assistant, Amanda Greene, during regular business hours at (506) 632-9260 or by visiting the Sea Dogs Administration Office on the pedway level of Harbour Station.

All the best to DK.

QMJHL DRAFT RANKINGS
The Chronicle Herald’s Willy Palov has an article on the two players who could be the top two picks in this year’s QMJHL Entry Draft.

“Sources around the league agree two players have separated themselves as the best prospects available,” writes Palov. “Shane Bowers from Herring Cove and Quebec’s Maxime Comtois both had strong [Canada Games] tournaments, cementing their status as the top contenders to go No. 1 overall.”

Both are considered to be franchise players. The wildcard in this is Joseph Veleno, an underage Quebec forward, who is reportedly trying to get exceptional status from the league to enter this year’s draft.

The Sea Dogs own the Drummondville Voltigeurs’ first round pick which could end up being first overall.
