Thomas Chabot didn't have to wait long to get called up to the NHL.

The Ottawa Senators announced this afternoon that Chabot has been recalled to the big club. The Sens assigned Chabot to Belleville of the American Hockey League on Oct. 1 following a rough final preseason outing with Ottawa.
Chabot appeared in one NHL game with Ottawa last season before being assigned back to Saint John for a final season of junior.

Ottawa begins a western Canada road trip on Tuesday in Vancouver.

Chabot's brief stint in the AHL was eventful, playing the first two games in Belleville Senators history. After being shutout 3-0 by the Laval Rocket on Friday, the Sens finally got on the board in Saturday's 6-2 loss in Laval.

The first goal in team history came courtesy of Chabot on a power play at 11:11 of the first period.

The second goal in team history was assisted by Chabot - and scored by none other than Chris DiDomenico, who was playing his first AHL game since 2011-12.

On the Laval side (Montreal's AHL affiliate), Simon Bourque played in both games while Eric Gelinas played Friday.

Belleville plays in Syracuse on Friday night against Mathieu Joseph and the Crunch. The team, who's coaching staff includes Paul Boutilier, doesn't play a home game until Nov. 1 due to arena renovations.
