Game Day 8: vs Armada

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs look to extend their winning streak tonight at Harbour Station.

Winners of three straight, the Sea Dogs host the St. John's Fog Devils Montreal Junior Blainville-Boisbriand Armada this evening at 7 p.m.

This is the first time these expansion cousins have met since the President Cup Final this past May.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 3-3-1-0 (7 points, 3rd Maritimes, 7th QMJHL) while the Armada are 3-1-0-0 (6 points, 2nd West Division, 9th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-0 win in Charlottetown last night. Ostap Safin scored twice while Kevin Gursoy and Daniel Hardie added singles. Cody Porter made 28 saves for his first QMJHL shutout and win. The Armada are coming off a 5-4 overtime win in Bathurst last night. Antoine Crete-Belzile scored twice while singles came from Micheal Kemp, Anthony Poulin and Joel Teasdale. Francis Leclerc made 33 saves in the win.

2016-17 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 1-0-1-0 against the Armada in the regular season last year while Blainville-Boisbriand went 1-1-0-0 against Saint John. The two also met in the President Final, which the Sea Dogs won in four straight games.

Last meeting: May 10 in Boisbriand where the Sea Dogs won Game 4 of the President Cup Final 5-1. Spencer Smallman scored twice while singles came from Bokondji Imama, Simon Bourque and Matthew Highmore. Pierre-Luc Dubois scored for the Armada. Callum Booth made 20 saves in the win. Samuel Montembeault made 29 stops in the loss.

Random stat: Pierre-Luc Dubois, who had just one goal in the President Cup Final against Saint John, scored his first NHL goal with the Columbus Blue Jackets last night.

Armada to watch: Alexandre Alain leads the Armada in scoring with three goals and five points.

Notes: Daniel Hardie leads Saint John in scoring with four goals and 10 points... Hardie's four goals leads the team. Ostap Safin has three... Hardie also leads the team in assists with six. Safin and Joe Veleno each have five... Alexandre Alain leads the Armada in scoring with three goals and five points... Alain's three goals leads the team...
