Game Day 52: vs Wildcats

MONCTON - The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to start a new winning streak tonight.

The Sea Dogs dropped their first game since Feb. 26 last night in Charlottetown, falling 6-4 to the Islanders. The loss ended Saint John's winning streak at 10 games.

The Sea Dogs defeated the Wildcats four times during that win streak, including a 6-2 win in Moncton on Tuesday night.

Game time tonight at TD Station is 7 p.m.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 31-16-1-3 for 66 points (third Maritimes/fourth Eastern/seventh QMJHL) while the Wildcats are 22-21-5-1 for 50 points (fifth Maritimes/seventh Eastern/12th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-4 loss in Charlottetown last night. Philippe Daoust scored a pair of goals while singles came from Raivis Ansons and Ryan Francis. Nikolas Hurtubise allowed five goals on 15 shots in 40 minutes of play. Thomas Couture stopped all three shots he faced in the third period. The Wildcats are coming off a 5-2 home win over the Cape Breton Eagles last night. Maxim Barbashev scored twice while Brooklyn Kalmikov, Mathis Cloutier and Jonas Taibel added singles. Jonathan Lemieux made 25 saves in the win.

2021-22 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 4-2-0-0 against the Wildcats this season while Moncton is 2-4-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Tuesday night at Avenir Centre where the Sea Dogs defeated the Wildcats 6-2. Ryan Francis scored a pair of goals while singles came from Vincent Sevigny, Nathan Drapeau, Nicholas Blagden and Brady Burns. Thomas Darcy and Mathis Cloutier scored for Moncton. Nikolas Hurtubise made 23 saves in the win. Vincent Filion made 34 saves in the loss.

Wildcat to watch: Forward Maxim Barbashev, who missed Tuesday's game against Saint John due to his participation in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, has three goals and four points over his past three games.

Random stat: The Sea Dogs are 16-8-0-2 at TD Station this season and have won five straight at home.
