FREDERICTON - The Newfoundland Regiment climbed back from an early 3-0 deficit in a 6-5 overtime win over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday at Willie O'Ree Place.
The Sea Dogs led 3-0 in the first period and were up 4-2 and 5-3 at other points of the contest. The Regiment netted three goals in the third period and Tyson Goguen scored the winner on a power play at 3:37 of overtime, improving Newfoundland's Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League pre-season record to 4-0.
The Sea Dogs, meanwhile, are still looking for their first win – and they came painfully close in this game. Saint John controlled much of the play in the first half of the game but couldn't hold onto the lead. Shots ended 47-28 in favour of Saint John.

Saint John's lineup was mostly filled with players who are on the bubble as more roster cuts are imminent. For many, this was their final chance to make an impression.
Angelo Fullerton scored twice for Saint John while Alexis Gauthier, Olivier Duhamel and Kaidan Sahajpal added singles. David Di Girolamo allowed two goals on 12 shots in the first half of the game while Sam Pitcher allowed four goals on 16 shots in the second half.
