Game Day 7: at Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Saint John Sea Dogs will travel to Charlottetown for a showdown with the Islanders tonight.

The Sea Dogs head into action on a three-game winning streak, which includes weekend wins over the Moncton Wildcats and Chicoutimi Sagueneens. They'll need all the momentum they can get as they face an Islanders team that sits second overall in the QMJHL standings with a 6-1-0-1 record.

Tonight will be Charlottetown's second home game of the season. They just finished up a stretch of seven straight road games, which they went an impressive 5-1-0-1 on.

Game time tonight at Eastlink Centre is 7 p.m.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 4-2-0-0 for eight points (fourth Eastern/seventh QMJHL) while the Islanders are 6-1-0-1 for 13 points (first Eastern/second QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-5 win over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Sunday. Cameron Chartrand, Angelo Fullerton, Olivers Murnieks, Zachary Morin, Olivier Groulx and Alexander Donovan all scored for Saint John. Justin Robinson made 42 saves in the win. The Islanders are coming off a 6-5 overtime win in Drummondville on Sunday. CJ Watroba and Nathan Leek each scored twice while singles came from Matthew Butler and Marcus Kearsey. Donald Hickey made 24 saves in the win.

2025-26 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the Sea Dogs and Islanders.

2024-25 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 3-5-0-0 against the Islanders last season while Charlottetown went 5-3-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Sept. 6 in pre-season play where the Sea Dogs edged the Islanders 4-2 at UPEI. Alexis Joseph had a pair of goals for Saint John while Natan Éthier and William Yared also scored. CJ Watroba and Ross Campbell scored for Charlottetown. Rafaël Courchesne made 24 saves in the win. Donald Hickey made 31 stops in the loss.

Islander to watch: 18-year-old American forward CJ Watroba, who is committed to Merrimack College next season, has three goals in his past three games.

Random stat: The Islanders are a reminder of just how meaningless pre-season results are. They went 0-5-0-0 in pre-season play but have posted six wins in their first eight regular season games.
