SYDNEY, NS - Everett Baldwin scored the first two goals of his Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League career to lead the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 4-0 win over the Cape Breton Eagles on Wednesday.
The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect scored in the first and second periods to help the Sea Dogs end a three-game losing streak. Zachary Morin and Matthew Krayer also scored in the win.
Rafaël Courchesne stopped all 26 shots he faced in the shutout. The rookie netminder left the game briefly in the third period, forcing Justin Robinson to play 1:32. This was Saint John's first shutout of the season.
The game was certainly an improvement from Saint John's two weekend losses in St. John's, which were full of defensive lapses and an offense that struggled to generate many quality chances. The goaltending, obviously, had a much better night as well.
Felix Hamel made 25 saves in the loss.
The Sea Dogs may have caught the Eagles at a good time as the squad is missing a few key regulars due to injuries. This was Cape Breton's fourth straight loss.
