SAINT JOHN - The Acadie-Bathurst Titan just keep rolling along.
The surprising Titan improved to 7-0-0-1 on the season with a 5-3 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday night at TD Station. The Titan have now picked up five of a possible six points in their three meetings with the Sea Dogs.
Bathurst's big guns once again led the way with Cole Huckins, Mathieu Desgagnes, Felix-Antoine Marcotty and Logan Chisholm all scoring. Mark Rumsey also connected while Chad Arsenault made 38 saves in the win.
The Sea Dogs struggled once again at both ends of the ice. A few defensive errors resulted in Titan goals while the offense couldn't generate much sustained pressure throughout the contest. It's the same issues the Dogs have been dealing with all season and it's led them to a disappointing 1-3-1-1 record so far. But it's still early, at least.
Julian Vander Voet, Alex Drover and Joshua Roy all scored for Saint John. Creed Jones allowed five goals on 20 shots in the opening 40 minutes. Noah Patenaude made 11 saves in the third.

FIRST GOAL: The Titan opened the scoring with a power play goal at 10:38 of the first period. The Sea Dogs have now allowed the first goal in five straight games. Saint John did lead after the first (2-1), something they've only done one other time this season.
PP GOAL: Saint John's power play finally broke through at 19:41 of the first period courtesy of Alex Drover. The Sea Dogs had gone a combined 0-for-8 on the man advantage over the past two games - including a 0-for-7 night on Friday.
GOALIE SWAP: Creed Jones was pulled after allowing five goals on 20 shots in the first two periods. A few of the goals definitely weren't his fault, but he'd no doubt like to have a couple back. Jones now has a 5.11 goals against average and a .827 save percentage in three games - but you have to think he is still feeling some rust from nearly a month of quarantine. It looked like Noah Patenaude was going to come in after the Titan's fifth goal in the second period, but the team opted to wait until intermission.

ARSENAULT: Chad Arsenault, the 5'07" goaltender who has been a star for the Titan this season, made his third start of the season against Saint John and earned his second win. He entered the game 1-1 with a 1.85 goals against average and a .953 save percentage against the Sea Dogs.
NOTES: Brady Burns returned to the Saint John lineup after being a healthy scratch on Friday in Charlottetown... Julian Vander Voet's goal was his first point of the season... there was a delay in the second period when Chad Arsenault's skate blade popped off and had to be put back in place... Cole Huckins extended his goal streak to four straight games... Joshua Roy had nine shots on goal... Saint John outhit Bathurst 17-9... the attendance was 1,443... some good news: the Sea Dogs don't have to play the Titan again until Nov. 22.
HIGHLIGHTS
NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs host the Cape Breton Eagles on Friday at 7 p.m.
