SAINT JOHN
- A six-goal second period lifted the Saint John Sea Dogs to a second straight win over the Moncton Wildcats on Friday at TD Station.

After a fairly even first, the Sea Dogs exploded in the middle frame - something we haven't seen often from this team - scoring just 19 seconds in and then, later on, three goals in a 1:01 span. Saint John went on to win the contest 9-4.

The nine goals scored by Saint John was a season high. The team has struggled to get its offense firing on all cylinders all year long, but hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Cam MacDonald had a tremendous game at both ends of the ice, scoring a hat trick along with a +4 rating, four shots and a team high seven hits.

Nicholas Girouard and Charlie DesRoches both scored twice for Saint John while singles came from Liam Leonard and Charles Savoie. Noah Patenaude made 23 saves in win.

Yoan Loshing, Owen Stammer, Charles-Antoine Pilote and Alexis Daniel scored for Moncton. Dakota Lund-Cornish made 34 stops in the loss.

DESROCHES: Charlie DesRoches netted his first goal of the season on Friday. He recorded four goals in the pre-season. The goal came on a beautiful pass from Charles Savoie.
HUGE SECOND: How big was Saint John's second period? The Sea Dogs entered the game having scored 16 middle frame goals all season. They scored six in this game. The goal scoring spree included three goals in a 1:01 span and four in 1:49.

BIG NIGHTS: Cam MacDonald (three goals), Charles Savoie (one goal and three assists), Brady Burns (three assists), Charlie DesRoches (two goals and two assists) and Nicholas Girouard (two goals) all had big games. Savoie had another nice assist on MacDonald's second goal.
SEASON HIGHS: The nine goals scored was a season high for the Sea Dogs. The six-goal second period was also the most goals they've scored in a single period this season. The 19 shots in the second tied a season high for shots in a period.

HITS: Saint John was noticeably more physical than usual in this game - and it showed on the stat sheet. The final hit count was a wild 26-10 in favour of Saint John.

STREAKS: Jordan Spence extended his point streak to 10 games with an assist on Yoan Loshing's first period goal. Joshua Roy, meanwhile, had his home goal scoring streak come to an end at five games. He had a great chance to score in the third period but was robbed by Dakota Lund-Cornish's pad.

PATENAUDE: Goaltender Noah Patenaude made a third straight start as the Sea Dogs continue to lean on him over Creed Jones. Jones was solid in his last start, making 45 saves in a 4-3 loss in Moncton on Nov. 6.

VS MONCTON: This was the fourth time in just over a week and the fourth time in five games that the Sea Dogs and Wildcats played each other. They meet again on Nov. 25 in Saint John; Dec. 6 in Moncton; and Dec. 9 in Moncton.

NOTES: Wildcats rookie Vincent Labelle, one of the team's leading scorers, missed the game due to injury... before the game, Nathan Drapeau was named the Sea Dogs' student of the month... Riley Bezeau had four hits... a season low crowd of 1,376 attended the game.

HIGHLIGHTS

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs take on the Mooseheads tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at TD Station.
