QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau recently confirmed that his league will host next year's tournament. The event has not been held since 2019 due to the pandemic.
This version of the Remparts franchise will celebrate its 25th anniversary this coming season. The team is well built to contend for the 2022 title and they obviously have the facility to host the event.
Details on the bidding process have not been released, reports le Journal de Quebec.
The Remparts previously hosted the event at Colisee Pepsi in 2003 and 2015.
It's not clear if any other QMJHL team plans to bid on the tournament. The pandemic may have thrown a wrench into the Saint John Sea Dogs' plans.
Le Journal de Quebec also reports that the tournament will begin on June 2, 2022, which is a week or two later than usual.

Only a few former Sea Dogs remain in the post-season and they'll clash in this round. Alex Drover, Creed Jones and the Rimouski Oceanic will be major underdogs when they face Maxim Cajkovic and the powerhouse Val-d'Or Foreurs.
Former Sea Dogs Joshua Roy (Sherbrooke), Isiah Campbell (Shawinigan) and Connor Richard (Moncton) were all eliminated in the previous round.
The other series will see Quebec face rival Chicoutimi; Blainville-Boisbriand take on Victoriaville; and Bathurst battle Charlottetown. The six remaining Quebec-based clubs will play in Quebec City while Bathurst and Charlottetown will play in Shawinigan.
DRAFT LOTTERY
The QMJHL announced Thursday that the league's annual draft lottery will take place this coming Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The event will be streamed on the league's Facebook page.
The Baie-Comeau Drakkar have the best odds of winning the first overall pick.
- 18th position – Baie-Comeau – 9 balls – 43%
- 17th position – Cape Breton – 6 balls – 28%
- 16th position – Sherbrooke – 3 balls – 14%
- 15th position – Quebec City (from Rimouski) – 2 balls – 10%
- 14th position – Halifax (from Moncton) – 1 ball – 5%
According to a league release, "once a team has been drawn, it is removed from the process. This process is repeated following each draw. However, if the Baie-Comeau Drakkar are not drawn first or second, they will automatically be awarded the third overall selection. Moreover, the Cape Breton Eagles cannot pick later than fourth overall due to their seventeenth-place finish."
The QMJHL Entry Draft takes place June 25-26.
The OHL held its draft lottery on Wednesday with the Sudbury Wolves winning the first overall selection.
RICHARD(S) HONOURED
Former Sea Dogs and current Moncton Wildcats forward Connor Richard(s) was named to the QMJHL's team of the week.
Richard had a goal and four assists in his final three playoff games. The rookie finished second in Wildcats playoff scoring with two goals and five assists in six contests. His three-point night on May 1 against Bathurst ties him for the second most points recorded by a Wildcats rookie in a single playoff game.
Richard, a Quispamsis native, appeared in three games with the Sea Dogs last season. He recorded eight points in 30 regular season games with Moncton this year.
