Some Sunday stats

Michael Hawkins/Saint John Sea Dogs
SAINT JOHN - Everett Baldwin tied a Saint John Sea Dogs franchise record on Saturday.

Baldwin scored his 13th goal of the season in Saint John's 5-4 loss to the Charlottetown Islanders, tying the team record for most goals by a rookie defenseman in a single season.

Baldwin ties Jakub Zboril who posted 13 goals during the 2014-15 season.
In terms of points, Baldwin now has 36 on the season, tying him with Luke Green for the third most by a Sea Dogs rookie defenseman. Nicolas Bilodeau (43 points) and Radim Salda (41) still sit ahead of him.

The Sea Dogs have seven games remaining in the regular season.

Baldwin has three goals and four assists over his past six games. Seven of his 13 goals have come since Jan. 4.

The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect is committed to Providence College for next season.

A few other stats related notes...
  • Alexander Donovan now leads Saint John in goals with 23, surpassing Alexis Joseph's 22. The team record for goals in a season by a rookie is 26, which is held by Tomas Jurco and Ostap Safin. Donovan has five goals in his past six games.
  • Angelo Fullerton has put together a really solid overage season. He now has 21 goals, 17 assists and 38 points – all career highs. His previous high for goals in a season was nine. His previous high for points in a season was 16.
  • Fullerton is a 20-year-old so he won't be back next season. Baldwin and Donovan are both committed to play NCAA hockey next season. There are some sizeable holes the Sea Dogs will need to fill during the off-season.
  • Olivier Groulx has points in seven straight games to give him 60 points on the season, placing him 22nd in QMJHL scoring.
  • Let's talk about shots on goal.
    • The 22 shots on goal Saint John had in the first period on Friday in Halifax are tied for the second most shots in a first period by any team this season. This season's first period high is 25, which is owned by the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
    • Saint John's franchise record for shots in a single period is 28, which was done in both the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons.
    • Those 22 shots are tied for the seventh most in a single period on the road in team history. Saint John had 22 shots in single periods in 2009-10, 2010-11 and, oddly enough, in a game earlier this season.
    • Saint John followed up Friday's game by allowing 25 shots in the second period of Saturday's game against Charlottetown. No team has had more than 26 shots in a single period this season, a high that is owned by the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
  • The 47 shots RafaĆ«l Courchesne faced on Saturday was nearly a season high for him. He faced 49 shots in Saint John's 6-5 overtime win in Chicoutimi in December.
  • The Sea Dogs now have 21 wins, tying their total from last season.
