SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs came up short against the Moncton Wildcats on Sunday at TD Station.

The Wildcats scored twice in the third period in a 4-2 win over the Sea Dogs. Moncton has now won five straight road games.

Alex Mercier, Niko Tournas, Gabe Smith and Teddy Mutryn all scored for the Wildcats. Rudy Guimond made 26 saves in the win.

Olivier Groulx and Max Vilen scored for Saint John, who had a two-game winning streak come to an end. Justin Robinson made 21 saves in the loss.

It was a fairly even game between two teams that were separated by just one-point entering the game. The Wildcats were the more structured team defensively, holding the Sea Dogs to just two goals and 10 dangerous shots. A few lapses proved costly for Saint John.

The Sea Dogs opened the scoring just 2:34 into the game but the Wildcats would score the next three and led 3-1 in the third period. Vilen scored to make it a one-goal game again at 7:38 but Mutryn's marker at 15:40 was a backbreaker.

Saint John pulled Robinson for an extra attacker with a couple minutes remaining but struggled to get much setup.
