SAINT JOHN
- Saint John Sea Dogs forward Cole Foston has been officially assigned to the Maritime Junior Hockey League's Yarmouth Mariners.
The 18-year-old was a sixth-round pick of the Mariners in the 2019 MHL Draft.

“We weren’t sure if we’d see him here when we drafted him, but we’re excited for him to be part of our organization now,” Mariners head coach and general manager Laurie Barron told Y95.5.

Foston spent last season with the Halifax Mooseheads. He appeared in 14 games with the Sea Dogs this season - recording one goal and one assist - but was pushed down the lineup with recent additions up front.

The Mariners, as they usually do, sit first in the MHL's South Division with a 12-6-2-0 record heading into this weekend's action. Their lineup also features former Dogs defenseman Benjamin Roode.

LELAND TAKES OVER TITAN
Former Sea Dogs assistant coach Greg Leland is now the interim head coach of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

The Titan announced Thursday that Mario Durocher had been relieved of his duties. The team has put Leland, who's been on the Titan bench as an assistant for the past two seasons, in charge on an interim basis.

Bathurst has struggled after a hot start, sitting fifth in the Maritimes Division and 14th overall in the QMJHL with a 9-9-0-2 record.

Leland, from Quispamsis, was an assistant coach with the Sea Dogs for eight seasons, which included helping the club win two President Cup championships and the 2011 Memorial Cup title.

Before joining the Titan, Leland was the head coach and general manager of the MHL's Campbellton Tigers.

BURNS' HAT TRICK
If you're looking to relive Brady Burns' hat trick against the Val-d'Or Foreurs last weekend, here you go.

MORE ON KUZNETSOV
The Calgary Flames blog The Win Column recently wrote about Yan Kuznetsov and where he'll spend the remainder of the season.

"This would also provide him with heavy minutes at the junior level, something he is not seeing much so far in Stockton," wrote Khalid Keshavjee on the possibility of Kuznetsov being sent to Saint John. "This season, he has found himself in the lineup almost every game, but only featuring in a third-pairing role, alongside a revolving door of partners—most recently Ilya Solovyov."

Kuznetsov has appeared in 11 of the Stockton Heat's 13 AHL games so far this year.

TICKET COMPARISON
If you're wondering how 2022 Memorial Cup ticket prices compare to 2019 prices in Halifax, here's a quick breakdown.

2019 in Halifax:
LOVE FOR COMMUNITY
The Sea Dogs and Love Over It have teamed up to make a Love For Community t-shirt.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Sea Dogs Foundation. More details here.

UNIVERSIADE ROSTER ANNOUNCED
Two former Sea Dogs will play for Team Canada's men's hockey team at the 2021 FISU Winter Universiade in Switzerland.

UNB Reds forward Samuel Dove-McFalls and University of Toronto Varsity Blues goaltender Alex Bishop were both named to the team last week.

Dove-McFalls enters play this weekend with six goals and five assists 14 games with UNB. Bishop, meanwhile, is 1-3 with a 3.05 goals against average and .918 save percentage in four games with UofT.

The event takes place Dec. 11-21 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

NOEL FIGHT
Quite a fight here for former Sea Dogs forward Nathan Noel, who is playing with the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers this season.
Noel has three goals and five assists in nine games with the Growlers.

The Growlers are also finally moving back into the Mary Brown's Centre (formerly Mile One Centre).

TITAN'S DEAL
An interesting tidbit from CBC New Brunswick regarding the Titan's new agreement with the City of Bathurst.

Under the proposed long-term deal, Bathurst will receive a portion of game revenues when more than 2,100 people attend. That threshold would mean selling more than 66 per cent of seats at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.

The Titan are averaging 1,574 fans per game this season. Their largest crowd so far this season was on opening night when 1,905 fans attended. In the last "normal" season (2019-20), the Titan had over 2,100 fans at four home games.
