William Dufour is getting another chance in the American Hockey League.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced Monday that they have signed Dufour to a professional tryout agreement. The 23-year-old had been playing with the Quebec National of the LNAH with the hopes of signing a pro deal.

The former Saint John Sea Dogs forward has spent the past three seasons in the AHL, playing a total of 181 games and posting 45 goals and 50 assists. He ended last season with the Colorado Eagles where he recorded just one goal and three assists in 12 games.

Dufour signed with the KHL's Lada Togliatti for the 2025-26 season and recorded two goals and an assist in seven games before opting to have his contract terminated, reportedly due to playing time.

It'll be interesting to see how Dufour performs during this PTO. The Penguins, who also feature former Sea Dogs forwards Boko Imama and Raivis Ansons, sit second in the Eastern Conference with a 9-3-1-0 record.

While we're on the topic, here's a full breakdown of how former Sea Dogs have performed early in this AHL season.

Julien Gauthier (Bridgeport) remains on the injured list. He appeared in just nine AHL games last season.

Jonathan Lemieux is the only former Sea Dogs goaltender to appear in an AHL contest this season, playing one game with the Abbotsford Canucks.

A number of these AHL players have been called up to the NHL already this season. Joshua Roy (Montreal) and Yan Kuznetsov (Calgary) have both played in some NHL games while Matthew Highmore (New York Islanders) and Spencer Smallman (Washington) were called up but did not get into any matches.

Of all the players listed, Eriks Mateiko is the only one playing in his first professional season. He's still looking for his first AHL goal but does have an assist.
