VICTORIAVILLE, QC - The Saint John Sea Dogs will try to end what's been a challenging road trip on a positive today.

The Sea Dogs fell 3-0 in Rimouski on Thursday and 4-1 in Drummondville on Friday, extending their losing streak to three games. Saint John will look to end this trip with a win when they visit the Victoriaville Tigres at 5 p.m.

The Sea Dogs sit just one-point ahead of the Tigres in the overall standings. Victoriaville is also struggling, having lost five straight games.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 7-9-1-0 for 15 points (ninth Eastern/16th QMJHL) while the Tigres are 6-9-2-0 for 14 points (eighth Western/17th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-1 loss in Drummondville on Friday. Olivier Groulx scored Saint John's lone goal while Justin Robinson made 40 saves in the loss. The Tigres are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Friday. Alexis Bourque and Thomas Paquet scored for Victoriaville. Gabriel D'Aigle made 27 saves in the loss.

Joseph, Canada Red win U17 gold

Alexis Joseph and Team Canada Red are 2025 U17 World Challenge champions.

Joseph captained Canada Red to a 6-3 win over Canada White in Saturday night's gold medal game in Truro.

The Saint John Sea Dogs forward had six goals and five assists at the event. He finished second in tournament scoring and was tied for the lead in goals.

Canada Red finished 1-0-0-1 during the preliminary round and followed that up with an 8-3 win over Sweden in the quarterfinals and a 4-1 victory over Czechia in the semifinals.

The Sea Dogs will certainly be happy to have Joseph back in their lineup next weekend given their recent offensive struggles. The 16-year-old rookie left the team having posted five goals and five assists in his first 12 games.

Finnegan Sears and the United States, meanwhile, won bronze on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Czechia. Sears, a Boston College commit who is playing with the USNTDP this season, was a sixth-round pick of Saint John in this year's QMJHL Entry Draft.

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC - The Saint John Sea Dogs dropped their third straight game on Friday, falling 4-1 to the Drummondville Voltiegurs.

David Bosson scored a pair of goals for Drummondville while William Dumont and Renaud Poulin added singles. Dayton Kitchener made 25 saves in the win.

Olivier Groulx netted Saint John's lone goal, which came in the first period and tied the game 1-1 at the time. The Volts took the lead just over five minutes later and they would maintain that lead until the final horn.

Justin Robinson made 40 saves in the loss. It's the second most shots he's faced in a game this season.

The Sea Dogs struggled to generate offense in this one, getting outshot 44-25 with only nine of those 25 shots being listed as dangerous. Saint John was outshot 20-6 and 13-7 in the second and third periods, respectively. 

Saint John has scored two of fewer goals in each of their past three games, falling 4-2 to the Moncton Wildcats last Sunday and 3-0 to the Rimouski Oceanic on Thursday.

The Sea Dogs are now two games below .500 with a 7-9-1-0 record.

Game Day 17: at Drummondville

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC - The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to find their scoring touch tonight.

The Sea Dogs were shutout for the first time this season on Thursday night, falling 3-0 to the Rimouski Oceanic. Saint John had 26 shots in the game and went 0/3 on the power play.

The Sea Dogs have scored two or fewer goals in three of their past five games. They'll look to generate more offense tonight when they visit the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Game time is 8 p.m.

The Voltigeurs carry a six-game winning streak into tonight's game.

This is the first meeting of the season between the Dogs and Volts. Saint John is just 2-6-0-0 against Drummondville over the past five seasons.

RIMOUSKI, QC - William Lacelle stopped all 26 shots he faced to lead the Rimouski Oceanic to a 3-0 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Thursday.

It's the first time this season the Sea Dogs have been shutout. Saint John went 0/3 on the power play – which included a five-minute man advantage in the third period – and were outshot 28-26.

Liam Lefebvre, Dovydas Jukna and Mathys Dubé scored for Rimouski.

Rafaël Courchesne made 25 saves in the loss.

It was a fairly evenly played game between two teams that sit beside each other in the standings. Saint John entered the third period trailing 2-0 and had a great opportunity to get back into the game when Jack Martin was awarded a five-minute major and game misconduct for a check-to-the-head on Olivier Duhamel. Not only could the Dogs not score, they spent much of the time remaining in the third period on the penalty kill, taking four minor penalties.

The Sea Dogs have now dipped below the .500 mark with a 7-8-1-0 record. They have two games remaining on this three-game trek, visiting the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Friday and the Victoriaville Tigres on Sunday.

AMHERST, MA - Greetings from the other Amherst, where the UMass Minutemen will host the Maine Black Bears in a prime Hockey East matchup tonight.

The Saint John Sea Dogs, meanwhile, are in Rimouski to begin a three-game Quebec road trip. That game begins at 8 p.m. Atlantic – and there will be English play-by-play available.

The Sea Dogs announced Wednesday that PEI hockey broadcaster Luke Mutch will call 11 of the team's 12 Quebec road games this season.

Mutch will call 11 Sea Dogs road games this season on the Sea Dogs Audio Network and FloHockey, beginning Thursday night against the Rimouski Oceanic. Bruce Smith will continue to handle play-by-play duties for all Sea Dogs home games with Joe Smith on colour commentary.

Mutch began his broadcasting career in 2021 with the Charlottetown Knights Major U18 team. He later became the play-by-play voice of the Summerside Western Capitals in 2023 and joined the Charlottetown Islanders’ broadcast crew in 2024, splitting time calling games with George Matthews and Cory Arsenault. Luke’s QMJHL broadcast debut came on February 10, 2023 as he filled in on the Sea Dogs broadcast alongside Bruce Smith.

Mutch is a very solid broadcaster and will make these road games much more enjoyable to watch/listen. His call will be available on the Sea Dogs Audio Network and FloHockey.
