Recap: Sea Dogs win 5-1

SYDNEY, NS - Another franchise record fell in another Saint John Sea Dogs win Sunday.

Josh Lawrence registered his 63rd assist of the season in Saint John's 5-1 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles on Sunday at Centre 200, breaking Jonathan Huberdeau's record for most assists in a single season.
Lawrence posted two helpers in the win - Saint John's ninth straight. With the Acadie-Bathurst Titan losing to the Halifax Mooseheads, the Sea Dogs now have a four-point lead on the Titan for third-place in the Eastern Conference. Both teams have six games remaining.

Ryan Francis scored a pair of goals against his old club on Sunday while Charlie DesRoches, William Dufour and William Villeneuve added singles. Raivis Ansons had two assists. Nikolas Hurtubise made 22 saves in the win.

Former Sea Dog Nicholas Girouard scored Cape Breton's lone goal. Nicolas Ruccia made 30 saves in the loss.

The Eagles have now lost nine straight games.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without goaltender Noah Patenaude (injury); defensemen Yan Kuznetsov (injury) and Nathan Drapeau (injury); and forwards Marshall Lessard (injury) and Nicholas Blagden (healthy).

NOTES: Saint John went 3/5 on the power play... Ryan Francis now has four goals and three assists in four games against his old club this season... the Sea Dogs and Eagles meet two more times in the regular season... attendance was 1,295.
