Notebook: The Queen has died

A handful of rinks across the Canadian Hockey League still have portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, the most notable being in Sudbury.

The Wolves tweeted the below photo following her death on Thursday.
The Sea Dogs don't have any direct connections to the Queen or royal family that I can think of, but the club's Memorial Cup commemorative jersey was based off the HMCS Brunswicker badge.

NEW LOOK
The Sea Dogs' website got a fresh look as the 2022-23 season nears.
Featured are veteran Sea Dogs Charlie DesRoches, Brady Burns, Peter Reynolds and Cam MacDonald.

ANOTHER SEASON PREVIEW
The Sea Dogs have shared another season preview video, which includes interviews with William Villeneuve, free agent defenseman Nate Tivey and assistant coach Jeff Hansen.

TD STATION PROBS
There were some issues getting people inside TD Station at Tuesday's Bryan Adams concert.

Photos were shared online of lineups stretching onto the parking lot sidewalks and into the pedway system. There was an apparent problem with the scanning of tickets.
There were long lines at Memorial Cup games as well - both to get into the building and on the concourse.

WJC SCHEDULE
The schedule for the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship, which will be played in Halifax and Moncton, has been released.

Canada will, potentially, play on the following nights. All of the team's games will be played in Halifax.

Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. vs Czechia
Dec. 28 at 7:30 p.m. vs Germany
Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m. vs Austria
Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m. vs Sweden
Jan. 2 quarterfinals
Jan. 4 semifinals
Jan. 5 medal games

The Sea Dogs will play on the same night as Canada on Dec. 28 and (potentially) Jan. 4. Saint John plays on New Year's Eve as well, but that game is at 2 p.m.

OTHER THINGS
  • The Sea Dogs return to pre-season action this weekend, hosting the Halifax Mooseheads on Friday at 7 p.m. and Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday at 3 p.m. Both games will be played at Fredericton's Aitken Centre.
  • Hamilton's Tim Hortons Field is being used for a TV shoot involving a fictional soccer team called the Sacramento Seals. The team's logo looks a lot like the Sea Dogs' logo.
  • Gatineau Olympiques fans will be able to take public transportation to home games free of charge for the next three years, the team announced Wednesday.
  • The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Val-d'Or Foreurs will reportedly have ads on their helmets this season. You have to think more teams will follow.
  • The Summerside Western Capitals and Amherst Ramblers will begin the season in the CJHL's Top 20 rankings. The Campbellton Tigers, meanwhile, were an honourable mention.
