BAIE-COMEAU, Que. - The Saint John Sea Dogs hung around for two periods but ultimately fell 6-2 to the first-place Baie-Comeau Drakkar on Thursday at the Henry Leonard Centre.

The Drakkar scored three times in the third after taking a 3-2 lead thanks to a late second period goal. Third periods have been a problem for the Sea Dogs of late, a common trait of young teams in junior hockey.

It was the Drakkar's big guns who led the way with Justin Gill — the QMJHL's leading scorer — netting a hat trick; Raoul Boilard scoring twice; and Jules Boilard adding a solo marker. Olivier Ciarlo made 19 saves in the win.

Eriks Mateiko and Nicolas Bilodeau scored for Saint John, who led 1-0 after the first period despite being outshot 18-9. Patrick Leaver made 32 saves in the loss.

Baie-Comeau is now an impressive 18-3-2-0 overall and 8-0-2-0 at home.

On paper, this was Saint John's toughest game of this road trip. The Sea Dogs visit Chicoutimi tomorrow and Rimouski on Sunday.
