Recap: Sea Dogs lose 3-2

SAINT JOHN - William Lacelle made 34 saves as the Rimouski Oceanic upset the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday at TD Station.

Lacelle was named first star following the Oceanic's 3-2 victory. Saint John led 2-0 after the first period but Rimouski turned it on in the second period – a period the Sea Dogs had been very good in up until this point – scoring three times on 10 shots.

Lou Levesque, Liam Lefebvre and Alex Massé all scored for the Oceanic. Massé's goal, the game-winner, came shorthanded.

Egan Beveridge and Angelo Fullerton scored for Saint John. Olivier Groulx had a pair of assists. Rafaël Courchesne made 22 stops in the loss.

The Sea Dogs outshot the Oceanic 36-25 but went 0/6 on the power play.

This was Rimouski's first road win of the season. The Oceanic were also playing their third game in as many nights after falling in Halifax on Thursday and Moncton on Friday.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forwards Elliot Dubé (healthy) and Jacob Beaulieu (healthy) along with defensemen Cameron Chartrand (injury or sickness) and Max Vilén (injury or sickness).

NOTES: Forward Alexis Gauthier made his QMJHL debut. He was a -1 and went 11/16 on faceoffs... defenseman Cameron Chartrand missed a second straight game... Jacob Beaulieu was Saint John's final scratch... Dylan Rozzi had five shots... Egan Beveridge's goal was his first of the season... Julien Wasmer and Vincent Croteau each had three hits... faceoffs were 43-26 in favour of Saint John... attendance was 2,470.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs are back in action on Thanksgiving Monday when they host the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at 3 p.m.

  1. its coming down to who to sit .....Gauthier or Beaulieu? No question its Beaulieu . Gauthier was 11/16 on faceoffs with regular shifts , he played well !!! No STUPID penalties tonight with Beaulieu watching from section 7.
