SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs stayed hot on Sunday, defeating the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 6-5 and extending their winning streak to three games.

Six different Sea Dogs scored in the victory as the team's offense kept on clicking. Saint John has scored five or more goals in each of their past three games, pushing their record to 4-2-0-0 on the the season.

Like Saturday's game in Moncton, the Sea Dogs got off to bad start but were able to rebound. The Sags opened the scoring just 1:14 in and controlled the first few minutes before Sant John was able to get things going, ultimately taking a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

The Sags outshot the Dogs 22-7 in the middle frame but, despite that, Saint John would lead 5-2 after two periods. Justin Robinson stopped 21 shots in the second and 42 overall on the night.

Chicoutimi made it 5-3 with a power play goal at 7:43. But Saint John was able to halt the momentum when Alexander Donovan scored at 7:51 – a goal that proved to be the game-winner.

The Sags pressed in the final few minutes, making it 6-4 at 15:07 and then 6-5 with another power play goal at 18:40. Robinson and the Sea Dogs again, like Saturday's game, bent but didn't break, holding on for a big road win over one of the QMJHL's top teams.

Donovan, Cameron Chartrand, Olivers Murnieks, Zachary Morin and Olivier Groulx all scored for Saint John.

Chicoutimi had a pair of goals from Maxim Masse and singles from Maxim Schafer, Anton Linde and Emmanuel Vermette. Raphael Precourt was pulled in the second period after allowing five goals on 18 shots. Mathias Hernandez allowed on goal on eight shots in relief.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forwards Elliot Dubé (healthy) and Alexis Gauthier (healthy) along with defensemen Max Vilén (injured or sick) and Patryk Zubek (healthy).

FIRST GOAL: A day after recording his first QMJHL point, rookie defenseman Cameron Chartrand netted his first QMJHL goal.
ANOTHER FIRST GOAL: In the second period, Olivers Murnieks netted his first QMJHL goal. Murnieks has gotten his QMJHL career off to quite a start, recording a goal and seven assists in six games.
NOTES: With the Under Armour issue continuing, the Sea Dogs had to wear their old blue jerseys for the first time this season, so many players wore some unusual numbers (and they didn't all match the numbers on their helmets). There were also no TD ads on the jerseys... with Max Vilén and Patryck Zubek both out of the lineup, Olivers Murnieks was the lone import player dressed for Saint John... Angelo Fullerton scored his first goal as a Sea Dog... Zachary Morin and Olivier Groulx have goals in back-to-back games... Morin had a Saint John high four shots... the Sagueneens went 2/4 on the power play... weirdly, this was Saint John's first home win over Chicoutimi since the 2016-17 season... the attendance was 2,535.

HIGHLIGHTS

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs are back in action on Friday when they visit the Charlottetown Islanders at 3 p.m.
