Notebook: Fight Cancer game Saturday

Saturday will be the Saint John Sea Dogs' annual Fight Cancer game.

As usual, the Sea Dogs will be wearing pink-themed jerseys for the occasion. Judging by the teaser posted online, this year's jersey will be a pink version of the club's new third sweater.
More details from the Sea Dogs' website:

This year, the Sea Dogs are proud to once again partner with Breasts Ahoy, a Saint John-based dragon boat team made up of breast cancer survivors. The organization provides survivors with an opportunity to stay active, build lasting friendships and support one another while raising awareness about life after breast cancer.

Fans can make a difference simply by attending the game. For every ticket purchased using promo code PINK26, $5 will be donated directly to Breasts Ahoy.

Game-worn Sea Dogs Fight Cancer jerseys will also be available through an in-game raffle and online auction, giving fans the opportunity to take home a one-of-a-kind jersey while supporting the cause, with a portion of the proceeds donated to Breasts Ahoy.

Tickets are available now at tickets.sjseadogs.com using promo code PINK26, with $5 from every ticket purchased through the offer donated directly to Breasts Ahoy.

Game time against the Cape Breton Eagles is 4 p.m.

TOP PROSPECTS ROSTER
Five Sea Dogs will take part in the upcoming QMJHL Prospects Game.

The QMJHL announced this week that Sea Dogs forwards Matyas Cancik and Oliver Ozogany along with defenseman Thomas Charbonneau have been added to the event's roster. They join Saint John forwards Jamie Glance and Alexis Joseph, who had been named previously.

40 players were selected in total. The players "were chosen by a group of National Hockey League scouts, in collaboration with the NHL Central Scouting and the QMJHL’s Hockey Committee, led by Vice-President of Hockey Operations Éric Chouinard."

The game takes place Oct. 28 in Gatineau.

EAGLES MAKE STATEMENT
Speaking of the Eagles, the club has an odd schedule this week with their lone game being Saturday's in Saint John.

Cape Breton got swept on their three-game road trip through Quebec last week, falling to Chicoutimi, Quebec and Sherbrooke. They are off to a 2-3-1-3 start.

The disappointing start forced the Eagles to release a rather unusual statement earlier this week.
It will be interesting to see how the Eagles respond on Saturday in Saint John. This will be the third meeting of the year between the two.

BEAULIEU SIGNS
It looks like Jacob Beaulieu is in Swift Current to stay.

The former Sea Dogs forward was officially signed to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement last week. As of Friday afternoon, the overager has appeared in eight games with the Broncos, recording two goals, two assists and 35 penalty minutes.

“While he was already named a member of our leadership group we are excited to pen to paper and officially welcome Jacob and his family to the Broncos. Jacob’s competitiveness and heart of a lion attitude will surely make him a fan favorite in Swift Current this season,” said Broncos general manager and head coach Travis Crickard in a news release.

The Broncos enter play this weekend with a 5-4-0-0 record, placing them third in the WHL's Eastern Conference.

FULLERTON'S BIG NIGHT
Angelo Fullerton never scored more than two goals in a single game during his 217-game QMJHL career.

On Wednesday, in his Atlantic University Sport regular season debut, Fullerton scored four times to lead the UNB Reds to a 5-2 win over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus.

The production instantly moved Fullerton into second in AUS goal scoring.

Fullerton is coming off a career high 27-goal season with the Sea Dogs. The Quispamsis native registered 46 points in 61 games during his final QMJHL season – his only one with Saint John.

Other former Sea Dogs on the Reds this season include Peter Reynolds, Ben Cross and Leighton Carruthers.

NEXT WAVE?
The QMJHL website has seemingly... taken the Sea Dogs' slogan?

The Eagles play the Huskies again on Saturday.
