The Sea Dogs recorded just 11 shots in the game but still managed to hang on for the win thanks to a strong 34-save shutout performance by goaltender Mikhail Denisov. Turns out, the 11 shots is a new franchise record for fewest shots in a game. The previous team record was 12, set a couple times - including once last season.
Going deeper into the numbers, the Sea Dogs set a league record by winning the contest. From CHL stat guru Geoffrey Brandow:
The 11 shots on goal matches the League record for the least amount of shots in a victory joining Hull on October 24, 1986 in a 4-3 at Shawinigan. https://t.co/gAIHtYhnbg— Geoffrey Brandow (@GeoffreyBrandow) December 31, 2018
So that's... something.
The Sea Dogs are averaging 28.17 shots per game this season, which is 13th most in the league.
