Plenty of current, former Sea Dogs attending NHL main camps this year

National Hockey League training camps are underway for several current and former Saint John Sea Dogs.

Current Sea Dogs (indicated below with the *) attending camps include Ryan Francis, Jeremie Poirier, Peter Reynolds, Cam MacDonald and William Villeneuve. Charlie DesRoches (Buffalo) and Brady Burns (Edmonton) attended rookie/development camps but did not advance to main camps.

Here's a look at the current and former Sea Dogs attending NHL training camps this year.

Anaheim Ducks: Nathan Larose

Arizona Coyotes: Bokondji Imama

Boston Bruins: Charlie Coyle, Jakub Zboril and Callum Booth

Calgary Flames: Ryan Francis* and Jeremie Poirier*

Carolina Hurricanes: Eric Gelinas and Spencer Smallman

Columbus Blue Jackets: Brett Gallant, Olivier Leblanc and Peter Reynolds*

Detroit Red Wings: Joe Veleno

Edmonton Oilers: Ostap Safin

Florida Panthers: Jonathan Huberdeau

Montreal Canadiens: Mike Hoffman and Joshua Roy

New York Rangers: Julien Gauthier

Ottawa Senators: Thomas Chabot

Pittsburgh Penguins: Alex D'Orio

San Jose Sharks: Zachary Emond

Tampa Bay Lightning: Maxim Cajkovic, Mathieu Joseph and Cam MacDonald*

Toronto Maple Leafs: William Villeneuve*

Vancouver Canucks: Matthew Highmore

Winnipeg Jets: Nathan Beaulieu

William Dufour, a fifth-round pick of the New York Islanders, was oddly not included on the team's training camp roster. The Islanders did not have a rookie/development camp.

A few notable Sea Dogs draft picks attending NHL camps: Yan Kuznetsov (Calgary), Bobby Orr (Carolina), Morgan Barron (New York Rangers), Shane Bowers (Colorado), Joey Daccord (Seattle) and, of course, Jack Eichel (somehow still Buffalo).

The NHL's pre-season begins Saturday.
