Recap: Sea Dogs lose 7-1

FINAL: Saint John 1, Halifax 7
HALIFAX - The Saint John Sea Dogs lost a fifth straight game on Saturday night, falling 7-1 to the Halifax Mooseheads at Scotiabank Centre.

The Sea Dogs managed to stay in the game through 20 minutes, trailing just 2-1 despite being outshot 21-7. Halifax added another goal in the second period but exploded for four goals in the third to cruise to a win.

Jan Sprynar scored a pair of goals while Markus Vidicek, Luke McPhee, Jack Martin, Mathieu Cataford and Logan Crosby added singles for Halifax. Mathis Rousseau made 29 saves in the win.

Tyler Peddle scored Saint John's lone goal, which came on a breakaway in the first period just after he stepped out of the penalty box. Justin Robinson, who had a few bounces not go his way, made 34 saves in the loss.

Along with dropping five straight overall, Saint John's road woes continue. The team has now lost nine consecutive games away from TD Station.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forwards Eriks Mateiko (injury), Jacob Beaulieu (serving the third game of a three-game suspension), Benjamin Beaudry (healthy) along with defenseman Matteo Mann (injury).

NOTES: The Sea Dogs went with the same lineup as Friday night against Baie-Comeau... this was Saint John's final visit of the season to Halifax... Markus Vidicek's first period goal was his 40th of the season... Tyler Peddle scored for a second straight game... Halifax recorded 21 shots in the first period after firing a total of 25 in a 2-0 loss to Bathurst on Thursday... goaltender Justin Robinson recorded his second assist of the season on Peddle's goal... Egan Beveridge had an eventful game, firing a team high six shots and seemed to be in the middle of a lot of scrums... faceoffs were 41-26 in favour of Saint John... former Sea Dogs forward Peter Reynolds had an assist and four shots... both teams went 0/3 on the power play... big crowd of 9,763 at Scotiabank Centre.
