Good Night For Two Former Dogs

It was a good night for two former Saint John Sea Dogs on Thursday.

For the first time since opening night, Jonathan Huberdeau found the score sheet for the Florida Panthers. He scored an insurance marker at 15:29 of a wild third period in the Panthers 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.

Huberdeau also had two shots, a +1 rating, and 13:20 of ice time. He now has a total of two goals and two assists in seven games this season. Florida improved to 2-5-0 with the win.

In Pittsburgh’s 3-0 win over the New York Rangers last night, Simon Despres helped set up what proved to be the game winner and scored a goal in the third period. His goal was nice. Real nice.

Despres, who was named third star, also had two shots, three hits, a +2 rating, and 12:47 of ice time. He took a hooking penalty in the third period which led to his breakaway goal. The defenseman has a goal and two assists in five games with the Pens this season.
