The PEI Rocket are no more.
At a press conference this morning, the franchise
officially announced that they will be called the Charlottetown Islanders next season. They
also unveiled their new logo (pictured).
According to the Charlottetown Guardian, “the colours are
roughly similar to the gold, black and white of NFL's New Orleans Saints and
the logo features the Confederation Bridge.”
The jerseys were not unveiled today, but The Guardian
also reports that they “will be revealed at an event sponsored by the team on
June 15, although glimpses should be available when the team selects its picks
at the 2013 QMJHL draft June 8 in Chicoutimi, Que.”
The logo is good, but the colour is a little bland. Maybe
the jersey will make it pop. Either way, I like it more than anything PEI
Rocket related.
New members of the team’s new ownership group were also
announced today. Exciting times on PEI.
