RECAP: Sea Dogs lose 5-1

FINAL: Cape Breton 5, Saint John 1
SAINT JOHN - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles had little trouble with the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday night at Harbour Station.

Derek Gentile scored twice to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 5-1 win over the Sea Dogs. Egor Sokolov, Ian Smallwood and Shaun Miller also scored. William Grimard made 22 stops in the win.

Aiden MacIntosh scored Saint John's lone goal. Alex D'Orio allowed five goals on 41 shots in the loss.

The Screaming Eagles scored two goals less than three minutes apart midway through the first period to grab a 2-0 advantage. MacIntosh scored late in the frame to get Saint John within one, but two Cape Breton goals late in the second period secured the victory.

This was the second game of a three-in-three for the Sea Dogs, who were coming off a big 6-5 win in Moncton on Thursday night. The team hosts the Rimouski Oceanic on Saturday at 7 p.m.

LINEUP
SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without goaltender Mikhail Denisov; forwards Christian Clark, Anthony Boucher, Yohan Plamondon and Maxim Cajkovic; and defenseman Brendan Sibley.

NOTES: Affiliate defenseman Patrick Musico (MHL - Grand Falls) was in the lineup... Nathan Larose, playing against his old team for the first time, had an assist... Alex Drover, who the Sea Dogs acquired in the Larose deal, was a -3... James White has five points over his past five games... Ian Smallwood continues to love playing against his old club. He now has two goals and an assist in four games against Saint John this season... Alex D'Orio has allowed four or more goals in three of his past five starts.
