Notebook: New goaltender added to camp

A new netminder has been added to the Saint John Sea Dogs training camp roster.

The Sea Dogs announced via Twitter on Saturday that overage goaltender Daniel Moody will take part in the team's camp, replacing Mathias Savoie.Moody, a Blackville native, has played with Drummondville, Chicoutimi and Baie-Comeau during his QMJHL tenure. Moody is a graduate of the Miramichi Rivermen program.

Savoie, 18, was a fourth-round pick of the Sea Dogs in 2018. He has been recalled a few times over the past two seasons as an injury replacement. The Memramcook native spent last season with the Moncton Flyers and Amherst Ramblers.

Moody, returnee Noah Patenaude and overager Carmine-Anthony Pagliarulo are the only three goaltenders listed on the Dogs camp roster.

GAMES ARE COMING
The Sea Dogs play three pre-season games this week, beginning with Tuesday night's home game against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Game time is 7 p.m. at TD Station.

Following that game, the Sea Dogs travel to Bathurst on Thursday for a rematch with the Titan. Then on Saturday, the team will travel to Dartmouth for a 4 p.m. contest against the Halifax Mooseheads.

Saturday's contest will be broadcast on the Mooseheads YouTube channel.

AAA START PUSHED
In a move that may impact some Sea Dogs prospects, the Quebec midget AAA league has been forced to suspend camps for a couple weeks in order to comply with new provincial government COVID-19 protocols. The move means the season start has been pushed to Oct. 16 at the earliest, according to La Presse.
