Scrimmages, intrasquad come to a close

SAINT JOHN – The first few days of Saint John Sea Dogs training camp concluded with an intrasquad game on Monday night at TD Station.

In a game that featured almost exclusively players that are new to the organization or have little experience, Team Thomas (white) defeated Team Smallman (blue) 11-4. After a back-and-forth first period, Team Thomas really took the game over in the final two periods.

The Sea Dogs begin pre-season play on Tuesday night when they visit the Moncton Wildcats. The two will also meet Wednesday in St. Stephen and Friday in Fredericton.

MONDAY MORNING
In the Monday morning scrimmages, Team 2017 opened the day with a 2-0 win over Team 2011. Dylan Rozzi and Dylan Krayer scored.

In the next game, Olivier Groulx led the way with a hat trick to lead Team 2017 to a 6-2 win over Team 2012. Patryk Zubek also netted a pair for the winners while Dylan Krayer scored as well.

In the final game, Team 2011 defeated Team 2012 by a final of 5-3. Team 2011 had goals from Alexis Joseph, Natan Éthier, Kabir Shahi, Alexis Gauthier and Dax Vader. Team 2012 goals came from Madison Bouchard, Alexander Donovan and Kaidan Sahajpal.

SUNDAY NIGHT
On night one of scrimmages, Team 2011 defeated Team Team 2012 1-0 in a shootout. Elliot Dube and Alexis Joseph scored the only goals of the shootout.


In the second game, Team 2011 beat Team 2017 by a final score of 4-2. Natan Éthier, Matthew Krayer, Alexis Gauthier and Joseph all scored for Team 2011. Team 2017 had a goal from Egan Beveridge (I think) and someone else (sorry).

In the third and final game of the night, Team 2017 defeated Team 2012 4-3 thanks to a late goal from Angelo Fullerton. Fullerton scored earlier in the game as well along with Beveridge and Max Donatelli. Matthew MacLean, Nolann Héroux and Alexander Donovan had goals for Team 2012.

All eight goaltenders in attendance played.
