| Trevor MacMillan/Halifax Mooseheads |
Chartrand nearly doubled his season point total, registering two goals and an assist to help the Saint John Sea Dogs defeat the Halifax Mooseheads 6-2 on Saturday night at Scotiabank Centre.
Both of Chartrand's goals came in an eventful first period that saw the team carry a 3-1 lead into the middle frame. The Mooseheads were able to get back within one late in the second period but a Jabez Seymour goal – which counted following a review – in the final minute gave the Dogs a commanding 4-2 lead heading into the third.
Matyas Cancik's goal just 35 seconds into the third essentially secured a Saint John win. Dylan Rozzi added an empty netter to make it a 6-2 final.
Alexander Donovan also scored for Saint John. Olivier Groulx recorded three assists while Rafaël Courchesne made 25 saves in the win.
William Bent and Nathan Langlois scored for Halifax. Carson Mertz made 28 stops in the loss.
