Wow.

It’s also great to see that the younger generation can pronounce Huberdeau’s name better than Nick Kypreos can. 

POSTSCRIPT: Sagueneens 8, Sea Dogs 3

A collection of recaps from yesterday’s 8-3 Saint John Sea Dogs loss to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens…

Our recap. Give credit to the Sags. This was their third game in three days. They came to play and put in a strong effort. The Sea Dogs didn’t do that.

The Telegraph-Journal’s recap. "There were five players that showed up to play today,'' Saint John head coach Gerard Gallant said. "I'm not going to name them, but the rest of the guys didn't show up at all. It was just a total collapse. It was a bad performance from everybody and hopefully they got it out of their system because it was embarrassing. We got what we deserved.''

Dominic Poulin and Andrew O’Brien added singles to round out the summary and former Sea Dog Gabriel Bourret had three assists and a plus-6 rating. Christopher Gibson made 26 saves for the win as Chicoutimi improved to 13-10-3-5.

This Sea Dogs Fan Isn't Happy

An incredible post on kijiji has been brought to our attention. Entitled “An open letter to the young lady who was seated in Section V,” it tells the story of a poor fan’s experience with a “young ‘lady’” on Saturday night at Harbour Station.

We’ve posted the letter – which had to have been posted early Sunday - below in case it gets taken down.

RECAP: Ugly. Dogs Lose 8-3.

FINAL: Chicoutimi 8, Saint John 3

SAINT JOHN – Etienne Brodeur looked like the Etienne Brodeau of old on Sunday afternoon at Harbour Station.

The former Lewiston Maineiacs sniper netted a hat trick in the Chicoutimi Sagueneens' 8-3 stomping over the Saint John Sea Dogs. Brodeur, who scored a league high 53 goals a season ago, had just eight entering tonight’s game. He also had two assists in his team's big win.

Charles Hudon added a pair for the winners while singles came from Andrew O’Brien, Lukas Sedlak, and Dominic Poulin. Goaltender Christopher Gibson made 26 saves for the win.

The Sea Dogs were just terrible in this one. They managed to stick around in the first two periods as the Sags led just 4-3 through 40 minutes. But things fell apart in the third as Chicoutimi scored four goals on 15 shots in the frame.

Give credit to the Sags. This was their third game in three days. They came to play and put in a strong effort. The Sea Dogs didn’t do that.

The loss ended Saint John’s home winning streak at 15 games. They had not lost at Harbour Station since opening night on September 8.

Tomas Jurco scored twice for Saint John and Charles-Olivier Roussel added a solo marker. One of the few bright spots of the game was that Zack Phillips picked up an assist, extending his point streak to 22 games.

Mathieu Corbeil started in goal but was pulled after allowing four goals on 17 shots. Sebastien Auger took over but didn’t do much better, allowing four goals on 20 shots.

The Sea Dogs clearly have some stuff to work on this week. Things don’t get much easier next weekend with two games against Halifax and one against Bathurst.

Chicoutimi Sagueneens vs Saint John Sea Dogs

SAINT JOHN – A few former Sea Dogs are in town as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens take on Saint John this afternoon at 3pm.

Defensemen Gabriel Bourret and Guillaume Cloutier along with forward Alexadre Beauregard all played parts of last season with Saint John before being traded to the Sags. Cloutier was sent to Chicoutimi during last year’s holiday trading period while Bourret and Beauregard helped Saint John capture the Memorial Cup.

Bourret was later traded at the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft while Beauregard headed to Chicoutimi earlier this season to make room for Charles-Olivier Roussel.

Beauregard will always be remembered for his goal in double-overtime in Game Six of the President’s Cup Final that sent the Sea Dogs to the Memorial Cup in Mississauga. This afternoon’s match could be the last time he plays at Harbour Station.

Bourret has 18 points for the Sags this season while Beauregard has nine and Cloutier four.

Chicoutimi enters play today with a record 12-10-3-5 for 32 points. They sit fifth in incredibly tough Telus East Division that features Quebec, Shawinigan and Victoriaville. They sit ninth overall in the league.

The Sea Dogs sit first overall in the QMJHL with a record of 25-7-0-1 for 51 points. Saint John is 8-1-0-1 in their last 10 games and have won four straight.

Saint John and Chicoutimi have met once already this season. On October 29, Zack Phillips scored twice while Jonathan Huberdeau, Tomas Jurco, Grant West, and Ryan Tesink added singles in a 6-0 Sea Dogs win at Harbour Station. Mathieu Corbeil only had to make 14 saves for the shutout.
