RECAP: Dogs Lose 5-3 Again

FINAL: Rouyn-Noranda 5, Saint John 3

SAINT JOHN – For a second straight night, the Saint John Sea Dogs lost a hockey game by score of 5-3.

On Saturday at Harbour Station, the Sea Dogs fell 5-3 to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. This after losing to the Val-d’Or Foreurs by the same score on Friday night.

Jean-Sebastien Dea had two goals for the Huskies while singles came from Dillon Fournier, Mathieu Lemay, and Jason Fuchs. Marcus Power had three assists. Steven Veilleux made 26 saves for the win in net.

Nathan Noel, Oliver Cooper, and Noah Zilbert all had goals for Saint John. Sebastien Auger returned to action, making 38 stops in the loss.

Noel scored his 10th of the season and opened the scoring at 4:42 of the first. On a power play at 18:37, Dea tied things up at 1-1.

Rouyn-Noranda’s power play kept rolling from there. Fuchs scored on the man advantage at 1:43 of the second which was followed by a Lemay goal at 3:05. The second period scoring kept coming as Cooper scored at 4:56, cutting the Huskies’ lead to 3-2.

Dea scored what proved to be the winner at 15:32 of the second stanza. Zilbert got the Dogs within one midway through the third but they could not tie it up. Fournier added an empty netter with one second remaining to make it a 5-3 final.

Rouyn-Noranda out shot Saint John 43-29.

The Huskies went a solid 3-for-4 on the power play while the Sea Dogs went 0-for-4.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs host the Victoriaville Tigres this Friday night at 7:30pm at Harbour Station.
