RECAP: Sea Dogs lose 7-3

FINAL: Saint John 3, Halifax 7
HALIFAX - The Saint John Sea Dogs lost their 14th straight road game on Wednesday night.

The Halifax Mooseheads scored four times in the second period in a 7-3 win over the Sea Dogs at Scotiabank Centre.

Halifax jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period but a goal by Cedric Pare put the Dogs down by just one heading into the second. After the teams exchanged goals early in the second, Halifax scored three straight to take control.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored twice for Halifax while singles came from Jared McIsaac, Brett Crossley, Joel Bishop, Ben Higgins and Barrett Dachyshyn. Alexis Gravel made 28 saves in the win.

Pare, Aiden MacIntosh and Ben Reid scored for Saint John. Tommy DaSilva got the start in net and allowed six goals on 31 shots through 40 minutes of action. Stewart Bagnell made eight saves in the third period.

Saint John has two games remaining on their 2017-18 season schedule.

The Sea Dogs were without forwards Yohan Plamondon (upper body), Matt Green (upper body), Landon Quinney (upper body) and Nicholas Deakin-Poot (upper body); defenceman Tyler Smith (healthy); and goaltenders Alex D'Orio (lower body) and Matthew Williams (injured).

D'Orio's injury is minor, according to Tim Roszell.

Sea Dogs head coach Josh Dixon served the first game of his two-game suspension... Aiden MacIntosh has three goals in his past six games... after a lengthy goalless drought, Cedric Pare has goals in back-to-back games... Ben Reid has two goals and three assists in the month of March... Tommy DaSilva made his second career QMJHL start... Stewart Bagnell was recalled before the game to act as DaSilva's backup... Jeff Cowan ran the bench with video/goaltending coach Brian Fleming acting as an assistant.

The Sea Dogs take on the Screaming Eagles in Sydney on Friday night at 7 p.m.
