FINAL: Saint John 5, Halifax 6
HALIFAX - The defensive struggles continued for the Saint John Sea Dogs on Thursday night.
The Sea Dogs allowed 2-1 and 4-2 leads slip away in a 6-5 loss to the Halifax Mooseheads at Scotiabank Centre. Saint John dropped to 0-4 on the road this season with the loss.
Saint John has now allowed a league high 40 goals against in eight games this season. Only one game - against the winless Acadie-Bathurst Titan - have they not allowed three or more goals against. The defensive struggles are a shame given that the team's offense has been pretty good - the Dogs are fifth in goals scored with 31.
Ben Badalamenti scored twice for Saint John while Joshua Roy, Charlie DesRoches and Jeremie Poirier added singles. William Villeneuve registered four assists. Zachary Bouthillier allowed six goals on 35 shots.
Maxim Trepanier and Senna Peeters both scored twice for Halifax while Walter Flower and Justin Barron added singles. Cole McLaren made 19 saves in the win.
