Even though they were still missing Mathieu Cataford, Luke Coughlin and Spencer Gill, the Rimouski Oceanic hammered the Shawinigan Cataractes 7-0 to take a 2-0 series lead in the QMJHL semifinals.
Shots ended 41-24 in favour of the Oceanic. Jacob Mathieu led the way with two goals and two assists.
Goaltender Mathis Langevin, who has taken the No. 1 job in these playoffs with William Lacelle injured, made 24 saves in the shutout win. Lacelle is back but has been Langevin's backup the past few games.
Former Saint John Sea Dogs captain Eriks Mateiko made his return to the Oceanic lineup and scored on a power play in the second period. Mateiko hadn't played since April 12 due to an injury.

There were lots of questions about the Oceanic heading into this series and whether or not the injuries would catch up to them against a strong team like the Cataractes. That hasn't been the case so far – and you have to wonder how good this team could be when they're healthy.
Game 3 and 4 of this series take place Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, in Shawinigan.
