While no official announcement has been made, the "click here for event tickets" button on the TD Station website now leads to a Ticketmaster page. Station Nation has confirmed the switch and that the Saint John Sea Dogs will be using the platform this coming season.
Tickets to next week's Bachman-Turner Overdrive show can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
The TD Station box office was closed this week (it's only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays) while they "undergo changes." The venue says the box office will reopen on May 6.
It's not a big surprise to see TD Station make the switch. Moncton's Avenir Centre has been using Ticketmaster since its opening while Halifax's Scotiabank Centre and Sydney's Centre 200 both made the move in recent years.
There is good news and bad news with this move. The good news is that Ticketmaster offers an extremely user friendly website and mobile experience, which will be a major upgrade compared to TD Station's previous platform.
The bad news: it's Ticketmaster, a monopoly (or close to one, at least) that is famous for its long list of service fees. Take a look at the added fees for the BTO show at TD Station next week.
