ADDED PRE-SEASON GAME
It looks like the Sea Dogs have added a game to their pre-season schedule.
The game still doesn't appear on the league website, but the Charlottetown Islanders have begun promoting an pre-season game against the Sea Dogs on Sept. 6. The game is scheduled to be played at MacLaughlin Arena on the UPEI campus.

The Sea Dogs will play the Wildcats four times in the pre-season; the Newfoundland Regiment once and the Islanders once.
Saint John's first exhibition game will be Tuesday, Aug. 19 in Dieppe against the Wildcats.
BRAND REVEAL
Here's the full video that was shown at Saturday's brand unveiling, which is narrated by Maestro Fresh Wes.
2026 DRAFT TALK
Corey Pronman of The Athletic has released a way too early mock draft of the 2026 NHL Draft. He has Latvian forward Olivers Murnieks, who the Sea Dogs selected with the sixth overall pick in last week's CHL Import Draft, going 30th overall.
"Murnieks had a good first year in North America," writes Pronman. "He won’t land on many highlight reels, but he’s a hardworking, detailed center who contributes at both ends of the ice. He has good pace in his game, strong puck skills and hockey sense and engages physically."
Murnieks spent last season with the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers where he posted 15 goals and 20 assists in 52 games.
2027 DRAFT TALK
After putting up six goals in Sunday morning's intra-squad game, there's no better time than now to get the Alexis Joseph hype train up and running.
Joseph was included in Daily Faceoff's 20 players that you need to know list for the 2027 NHL Draft, the draft class that will be highlight by Landon DuPont of the Everett Silvertips.
"He carries the puck exceptionally well, and he might be one of the smarter prospects I’ve seen enter the Q in quite some time," writes Steven Ellis about Joseph. "There just isn’t a glaring flaw in his game right now. Joseph is so tough to contain, and I have full belief that he’ll continue in major junior."
Former Sea Dogs forward Philippe Daoust has re-signed with the AHL's Belleville Senators, inking a one-year, one-way deal with the Ottawa Senators' AHL affiliate.
Daoust, 23, appeared in a career-high 52 games for Belleville in the 2024-25 season, his fourth with the club, notching 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) along with 14 penalty minutes.Selected by Ottawa in the sixth round (158th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, Daoust has dressed in 80 career AHL games, all with Belleville, recording 36 points (eight goals, 28 assists).
Daoust spent the second half of the 2021-22 season with the Sea Dogs (after being reassigned to junior by Belleville), helping the team capture the Memorial Cup.
OTHER STUFF
- We already know that the Sea Dogs have invited quite a few free agents to training camp next month – but the number is expected to grow even more. This year's camp is going to be a large one.
- Drummondville forward Luke Woodworth is heading to Omaha.

NEW COMMIT: '06 LD Marcus Kearsey commits to NU. Kearsey has played three years for QMJHL @IslandersHKY, wearing an A in 2024 and a C in 2025 and picking up 106 points from the blue line. He will presumably captain the team again this year. More to come. Congratulations Marcus! pic.twitter.com/rAv0jtkfSC
— Northeastern Hockey Blog (@NUHockeyBlog) July 4, 2025 - Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects is reporting that Medicine Hat Tigers forward Gavin McKenna will leave the WHL and play for the NCAA's Penn State Nittany Lions next season. Reports indicated that McKenna was deciding between Penn State and Michigan State. Even though this is likely the best move for McKenna's development, it's a massive blow to the CHL.
