The Saint John Sea Dogs made two more
roster moves on Friday, assigning forward Nico
Blachman and goaltender Matt Williams to junior ‘A.’
The moves trim Saint John's training camp roster to 28.
Blachman joined the Sea Dogs last
season, recording one goal and 68 penalty minutes in 31 games. The Florida
native was held pointless in four playoff games. Earlier in the season he
appeared in seven games with the USHL’s Chicago Steel.
The 18-year-old was selected by the Campbellton Tigers in this year’s MHL QMJHL Supplementary Draft.
Williams spent last season with the
MHL’s Summerside Western Capitals, posting a 3.17 goals against average and a
.900 save percentage in 35 games. He appeared in seven playoff games as well,
recording a 4.01 GAA and .880 SV%.
With Williams cut, the Sea Dogs only
have two goaltenders left in camp – Alex Bishop and Alex D’Orio. It appears that
will be Saint John’s duo in net.
17 forwards and nine defencemen make up
the rest of Saint John’s camp roster.
