Pre-Season Game Day 4: vs Islanders

FREDERICTON - The Saint John Sea Dogs and Charlottetown Islanders are right back at it tonight.

The two teams met last night in Cornwall where the Sea Dogs erased a very early 2-0 deficit and went on to win 7-4. Players who are battling for those final few forward positions - Carter McCluskey, Vince Elie and Nico Laforge - continued to shine offensively.

The Islanders just got training camp rolling this week so they are a bit behind where the Sea Dogs' camp is at. Saint John had much more experience in their lineup last night compared to Charlottetown.

Game time tonight at Fredericton's Aitken Centre is 7 p.m.

TV/Radio/Webcast: None/None/None

Pre-season records: The Sea Dogs are 3-0-0-0 this pre-season while the Islanders are 0-1-0-0.

Nico Laforge and Vincent Despont each scored twice while singles came from Josh Lawrence, Carter McCluskey and Vince Elie. Michael Horth and Samuel Chabot each scored twice for Charlottetown. Olivier Brideau allowed two goals on 13 shots in the first half of the game while Ventsislav Shingarov allowed two on 15 in the second half. Jacob Leblanc allowed three goals on 14 shots in the opening half of the game for Charlottetown while Paolo Marabello allowed four on 23 in the second half.

Last meeting: See above.

2020-21 records: The Sea Dogs finished the regular season with a 15-14-3-1 record for a .515 points percentage (third Maritimes) while the Islanders went 35-5-0-0 for a .875 points percentage (first Maritimes).

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Islanders: None.

Notes: Vince Elie and Nico Laforge are now tied for the league lead in pre-season scoring with six points each... Elie also leads in goals with five. He has scored in each of Saint John's pre-season games so far... Laforge has a Saint John high four assists... there were a few scrums but last night's game wasn't overly nasty. Jack O'Blenis and Max Chisholm tried to fight in the third period but the officials quickly broke it up... this is the second of four pre-season "home" games for the Sea Dogs at the Aitken Centre.
