Notebook: Titan force Game 5

It took some time, but the Acadie-Bathurst Titan have forced a Game 5 in their best-of-five first round series against the Halifax Mooseheads.

After dropping the first two games of the series on home ice, the Titan hammered the Mooseheads 8-1 on Monday and then earned a 4-3 triple overtime victory on Wednesday to tie the series at 2-2.
Riley Kidney scored the game-winner at 16:14 of the third overtime - or around 11:50 p.m. in real time. The Titan outshot the Mooseheads 72-46 in the game and were the better team for much of overtime. Ben Allison appeared to win the contest earlier in the third extra frame but, after a review, the goal was called off due to a high stick.
The game will also be remembered for this moment from Thomas Belgarde. Game 5 of the series was supposed to be Thursday all the way back in Bathurst but the league has made the wise decision to push the game to Friday.

BASH ON THE BAY
Here's a better look at how the Bash on the Bay concert schedule works out during the Memorial Cup. These shows will take place at the soon-to-be-completed Area 506 Container Village.
And a reminder, per the Sea Dogs, "that buying a full tournament Memorial Cup package gets you priority access to these great acts. Show your game ticket at the container village for the corresponding concert to enter. Based on availability. Doors open at stated time."

SECOND ROUND SCHEDULE
If the Sea Dogs advance to the second round of the playoffs, we know a couple things.

First, we know they'll be facing the Charlottetown Islanders. Second, we know the first two games of the series will be on Sunday and Monday.

The Islanders have confirmed that Game 1 of their second round series - no matter the opponent - will take place Sunday afternoon while Game 2 will be Monday evening.
The series will change locations for Games 3 and 4 which, depending on building availability, will likely be Thursday and Friday. A Game 5 would likely be Sunday back in Charlottetown.

SHOTS VS RIMOUSKI
The Sea Dogs have had quite a bit of success keeping shots against to a minimum when playing the Rimouski Oceanic in the playoffs. The Sea Dogs allowed just 14 shots against on Tuesday, nearly matching the franchise playoff record.
The Sea Dogs head into action Thursday with a 10-2 record all-time against the Oceanic in post-season play.

BIG SAVE
Quite a save from Thomas Couture in Game 3 on Monday.
Couture has played every minute of the first round for Saint John, posting a 1.76 goals against average and a .920 save percentage.

CHABOT NAMED CAPTAIN
Former Sea Dogs defenseman Thomas Chabot has been named captain of Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF World Championship.
“It is always special to be able to wear the Maple Leaf, and it is a true honour to be named captain for the world championship,” Chabot said in a news release. “Josh, Pierre-Luc, Adam and Damon are great leaders and players, and I look forward to serving on the leadership group with them. Our entire team is excited to play for Canada, and we will represent the country with pride as we look to defend last year’s gold medal.”

Canada's first game of the tournament is Friday at 1:20 p.m. Atlantic against Germany.

ORGAN NEWS
As more and more teams remove or limit organ use at games, Moncton's Avenir Centre is having one installed.
