SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs remain winless on home ice this season following a 5-1 loss to the Moncton Wildcats on Saturday.
The Sea Dogs registered just 16 shots in the loss to their provincial rivals, which included just four in each of the second and third periods. Saint John is now 0-3-1-1 at TD Station this season.
Caleb Desnoyers, the first overall pick in this year's QMJHL Entry Draft, led the way for the Wildcats with a goal and two assists. Preston Lounsbury scored twice while Yoan Loshing and Alex Mercier added singles.
Keegan Warren made 15 saves in the victory.
Danny Akkouche scored Saint John's lone goal, which came in the second period with the Sea Dogs already trailing 3-0.
Patrick Leaver made 31 stops in the loss.
Saint John's penalty kill entered the game with the second best rating in the league but struggled in this game, allowing four goals on eight opportunities.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forwards Eriks Mateiko (injury), Sam-Luca Thifault (injury), Vince Elie (healthy) and Francis Woods (healthy) along with defenseman Matthew MacLean (healthy).
NOTES: Saint John went with 11 forwards and seven defensemen... Vince Elie, who sits second in team scoring, was listed as a healthy scratch... the newly signed Francis Woods was a healthy scratch... defenseman Matteo Mann made his Sea Dogs debut, recording one shot and a -1 rating... Tristan Dassylva had four of Saint John's 16 shots... attendance was just 3,241 for Kardinal Offishall night... intermissions were extended once again for the musical performances.
